Processes are constantly evolving! Since introducing Acrylic Resist Etching and Water based Screenprinting to our studio in 1995 we have been constantly updating and exploring the processes we can offer to artists. Our research is guided both by the experience of our technical staff as well as the practicalities of artists that create prints in the studio. This partnership of technical and aesthetic research leads to practical solutions being investigated by our printmaking technical-staff. As a result our possibilities in printmaking are constantly expanding to allow more and more expressive and exciting ways of working that cater for the contemporary application of printmaking. Our motivation in continuing research of print processes is to create flexible processes offering artists the most versatile range of high quality results. We also avoid using highly toxic or harmful chemicals and solvents where a safer alternative may be found. In practicality, some research may only go as far as to create test plates and results that build on our wealth of experience. Sometimes research leads to new print-editions being published by Edinburgh Printmakers that exploit the potential of these new processes. Below is some more information on specific processes.
