It's the language of cosmic energy that characterises the work of Renato Galante. His work has a figurative dimension, which lies on the border between two worlds: a macrocosm and a microcosm inhabited by strange cells and waving filaments. Are we seeing neurons or stars? The ambivalent space inhabited Galante’s cosmic still life creates an arrangement which just borders on the possible. Natural elements are expanded and investigated down to their structural qualities, transforming themselves spontaneously into stars and planets. Galante’s latest works have a monochrome quality, condensing colour and absorbing or amplifying the light. His images recall photographic shots whilst remaining inside the field and language of painting. |
